The Cain Art Studio

The Cain Art Studio is a spacious 1,400 sq. ft. artist’s retreat, located on two secluded acres in the lovely community of Forest Meadows, near Murphys, CA.

The strawbale constructed art facility was built in 1998 by owner, Judie Cain, to be used for studio and teaching space. She has taught oil painting fundamentals and “Color Demystified” workshops at her studio as well as several other locations. She teaches limited classes now. Other artists have come to teach and/or hold art related events as well.

The space is suited for workshops and other art related programs. The building has a small kitchen area, restroom and is handicap accessible, with ample parking. The surrounding gardens are rustic and restful, nestled among abundent trees and fields.

The charming community of Murphys is 4 miles down Ebbets Pass (Highway 4) from Forest Meadows and the Cain Art Studio. There are several places in Murphys and within Forset Meadows for over night accommocations. Murphys has wonderful restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and several wineries of note, many with downtown tasting rooms. Forest Meadows is built around an 18 hole Robert Trent Jones II public year ‘round golf course (Forest Meadows Golf, www.forestmeadows.com) at the 3,000 foot elevation. At this altitude the summers are cooler, winters are milder, being below the snow line, yet above the Valley fog. There are astounding views from the large forested and high canyon areas and nearby lakes - a great painter’s retreat and a golfer’s delight. The Bear Valley ski resort area is a 40 minute drive up the hill as is Lake Alpine, to note other terrific artist’s painting retreats in the area.
